About us
The tower on Slottsfjellet was built in 1888 on a private initiative as a memorial to Tønsberg’s thousand-year anniversary a few years earlier. Tønsberghus fortress (Castrum Tunsbergis) on the top of the hill has probably dominated the town and the sorounding agricultural areas even before the 12th century when the Baglers entrenched themselves during the siege of Kong Sverre and the Birkebeinerne. Tunsberghus went through a large-scale development during the reign of King Håkon Håkonssons and Magnus Lagabøte during the 13th century. In order to strengthen the diplomatic ties to Europe, Princess Kristina the daughter of King Håkon was married of with Don Felipe the brother of King Alfonso of Castillo y Leon in March 1258
History
-ScanSecure is located in Tønsberg, Norway’s oldest citiy with a history dating back to the Viking Age.
Scan Secure was established in 1978 with sales and installing intruder alarms to domestic market. In 1984 we added the famous integrated security system – Scramble Lock from Hirsh in USA to our product range.
The first Guard Tour Systems was sold in 1990 to the Norwegian security company that was later known as Nokas, from 2020 known as Avarn Security and to the shipping company Jahre Line, today known as Color Line.
In 2004 ScanSecure bought Vidron that was manufacturing sub-sea cameras and for the next decade the subsea market was growing fast.
ScanSecure was busy developing new products and solutions with their own brand SeaVision which took big share of the growing aquaculture market.
At the same time ScanSecure was taking major shares in the Guard Tour market with their own developed GTS-software with a graphical interface that was visualizing the deviation from the completed duty rounds placing the guards in charge of the system and responsible for the tour performed.
In 2015 Sigurdsøn AS merged from ScanSecure AS and ScanSecure changed name to ScanSecure-Vidron.
In 2020 SeaVision demerged from ScanSecure-Vidron focusing on subsea equipment and was later the same year was sold.
Company name was turned back to ScanSecure and are today focusing on Guard Tour Systems, Security Seal, Key Management Systems & Code Locks, but with an open mind to new interesting and cost-effective products and solutions.
